We’re proud to announce that Ardoq is the first enterprise architecture platform to launch a limited availability technical preview of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — a pioneering open standard introduced by Anthropic, one of the most visionary companies shaping the future of enterprise AI.
With this launch, we’re unveiling AI Gateway (MCP Server) — an AI integration that enables users to ask complex architecture questions and receive reasoned, explainable answers from AI tools like Claude, chatGPT, or Co-Pilot — powered by Ardoq’s live data.
This isn't just another integration. It's a major leap forward in making architecture data more accessible, impactful, and easier to interact with - for everyone.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s a new open standard, initiated by Anthropic, that gives conversational AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT the ability to interact directly with software platforms—not just to read data, but to act on it.
Think of it as the missing link between chatting with AI and interacting with your applications in a standardized way that all AI models can use.
Where traditional AI can answer questions from the open web, MCP allows it to surface, interpret, and explain insights from your own apps.
With secure access to Ardoq, Claude or chatGPT can become a natural-language interface to your architecture models—able to query your simulations, generate reports, and simulate potential outcomes.
AI Gateway (MCP Server) is an Ardoq technical preview that allows users to interact with Ardoq via Claude, ChatGPT or other AI Assistants. Instead of manually navigating menus or running Gremlin queries, users can simply ask questions or give commands in plain English. You can now:
Ardoq responds instantly with the distilled insights you need.
We’re proud to be first in our space to support MCP, but this isn’t about novelty—it’s about strategy.
At Ardoq, we’re building AI capabilities on two complementary fronts:
AI Gateway (MCP Server) reflects that second pillar. It’s not just a chatbot but an early step toward AI that can interpret architecture data, explain tradeoffs, and support decision-making at scale. MCP helps turn EA repositories into intelligent, interactive systems—not just static documentation.
With Ardoq AI Gateway (MCP Server), we’re making it easier for your stakeholders to query, simulate, and analyze architecture—all without logging into Ardoq or needing technical expertise.
These capabilities are on our roadmap as the MCP standard and our governance models mature.
✅ AI-Reasoned Recommendations
Ask Microsoft Co-Pilot: “Which apps should we eliminate and why?” → Co-Pilot returns contextual recommendations grounded in Ardoq’s metadata.
✅ Interactive Impact Analysis
Ask Claude: “What’s the downstream impact if we migrate our CRM to a new platform?” → See simulation results in plain English.
✅ Natural Language Search & Querying
Ask chatGPT: “Show me all high-criticality applications that are hosted on-prem and have known vulnerabilities.” → Get results directly from Ardoq.
✅ Automated AI-Assisted Updates
Prompt: “Flag Salesforce for review and notify the governance team.” → Ardoq reflects the change via MCP.
✅ On-Demand Report Generation
Prompt: “Create a compliance report for customer-facing systems and highlight deviations.” → Get a formatted, AI-generated output instantly.
All of these actions are powered by AI chatbots communicating securely with Ardoq via MCP.
MCP isn’t just about accessing your architecture models—it’s about understanding them. AI Gateway helps users move from data lookup to data insights - fast.
For emerging EA teams, it unlocks:
For established EA practices, it enables:
For CIOs and business leaders, it offers:
Yes, security is a core design principle at Ardoq. The MCP integration operates within Ardoq’s existing governance framework. Ardoq does not currently allow AI tools to change data via the MCP server. All interactions in the technical preview are read-only. Access is governed by your existing Ardoq user permissions and workflows. Any sensitive data can be gated by workflow approvals or restricted entirely.
Customers are encouraged to evaluate risk tolerance and governance practices, and our team is available to guide best practices.
AI Gateway (MCP Server) is an Ardoq limited availability technical preview for current customers. If you're interested in getting early access or learning more about how MCP works in practice, contact your Ardoq CSM.
This launch marks the beginning of a new chapter. We’re not just adding AI—we’re rethinking how enterprise architecture is accessed, understood, and made useful in real-time.
We believe the future of EA is intelligent, connected, and data-driven – now, it's also conversational. That future begins today, with Ardoq.
